Tournament of Succession VI – Springtime in the Country

April 19 @ 4:00 pm - April 21 @ 12:00 pm CDT

The Incipient Borough of Dracanceaster calls to all of the people of Alendia, far and wide, to join us for a weekend of combat, merriment and feasting, as we celebrate the coming of spring and the search for heirs to our Kingdom’s throne.

We will gather at Skyway All-event center to secure the future of Alendia and celebrate all that makes us great! There will be activities for all ages. Artisans and merchants are invited to share their crafts and wares. Fighters may compete in thrown weapons, archery, unarmored historical combat, and heavy fighting, culminating in the Grand Tournament to choose successors to the throne. (Details of the Grand Tournament will be announced at a later date.)

The weekend’s festivities will conclude with a feast for one and all. We invite all bards entertainers to perform for us during feast and afterwards around the campfire while sharing desserts.

A Facebook event page will be posted soon with more details and information – watch for announcements!

We hope to see you soon!

The Crown has issued the following information regarding the conduct of the tournament:

Tournament Format:
– The tournament will be fought as a Round Robin of single engagements.
– At the conclusion of the Round Robin, those fighters with the most number of wins will meet in a final “best two out of three” round.
– If, at the conclusion of the Round Robin there is a tie resulting in more than two combatants scoring the most number of fights, a semi-final round limited to those combatants will be fought as a Round Robin until only two fighters remain. All wins/losses from the previous round are retained during this phase.

Combat Style:
– The tournament will be a mix of armored chivalric (rattan) combat and historical armored (steel) combat.
– The rules set for each engagement will be determined by random coin flip.
– The choice of weapons will be determined by the “Wheel of Pain”… a spun wheel with various weapons forms as possibilities.

Conditions of Victory:
– None of the victories/defeats from previous rounds will be counted during the final round.
– The final round will be fought as a “best two out of three”.
– Should “Monkey Knife Fight” not have occurred in the previous rounds, the Queen mandates that this will be the weapons style for the first fight of the final round.

The Crown wishes all potential combatants to understand that they need to come prepared with a kit that is acceptable for both armored historical and armored chivalric combat. If any potential combatant has different kits for both forms, the method of engagement will be determined far enough in advance of each fight to allow some exchange of armor parts (though likely not a complete change of kit.)

Additional Requirements:
1. Each couple entering the tournament must present for display a Crafts & Trades project.
2. Each couple entering the tournament must have at least a minimal heraldic display commensurate with their persona/impression and rank within the kingdom.
3. No combatant may fight for more than one consort, and no consort may be fought for by more than one combatant.
4. All other rules in Codex Societatis and Kingdom Law apply. All couples entering the tournament must be familiar with both documents.
